10-Minute Thanksgiving Dessert: Creamy Cranberry Topped Pound Cake

Thanksgiving is always a busy time in my kitchen. Between preparing the turkey, getting the side dishes ready, and keeping the kids from sneaking too many bites before dinner, I don't always have time to make an elaborate dessert. That's why I love having a few quick recipes that still feel special.

This Creamy Cranberry Topped Pound Cake is one of my favorites. It starts with a classic buttery pound cake, topped with a light and fluffy whipped cream cheese frosting made with a whipped cream charger. A little Cranberry Finishing Sugar brings everything together with a sweet, tangy cranberry flavor and a satisfying crunch.

The best part? It takes about 10 minutes to prepare, so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying Thanksgiving with your family.

Ingredients You'll Need

You don't need anything complicated for this recipe. A few simple ingredients are all it takes.

  • 1 ready-made pound cake
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold, at least 30% fat)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons Cranberry Finishing Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra Cranberry Finishing Sugar for topping

Ingredients

Equipment:

  • A cream charger
  • A whipped cream dispenser
  • A mixing bowl
  • A spatula

How to Make Creamy Cranberry Topped Pound Cake?

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 6–8

Step 1. Get the Pound Cake Ready

Place your pound cake on a serving plate. You can use a homemade pound cake or pick up a ready-made one from the grocery store. For a busy Thanksgiving, I'm perfectly happy with a good store-bought cake!

Leave it whole if you want a nice centerpiece for the dessert table, or slice it into individual portions if you're serving a crowd.

Step 2. Prepare the Whipped Cream Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Add the cold heavy whipping cream and gently mix until everything is well combined and free of lumps.

Now, transfer the mixture into a clean whipped cream dispenser. Make sure you don't fill beyond the dispenser's maximum fill line. Secure the lid, connect it with the flavoured nitrous oxide according to the manufacturer's instructions, and shake as directed.

You'll get a light, fluffy cream cheese frosting without spending several minutes whipping cream by hand. That's one less job to worry about while preparing Thanksgiving dinner!

Step 3. Add the Cranberry Flavor

Dispense the whipped cream cheese frosting into a bowl. Add 1–2 tablespoons of Cranberry Finishing Sugar and gently fold it in with a spatula.

This is where the holiday flavor really comes through. The cranberry finishing sugar adds a sweet and tangy touch that pairs beautifully with the rich cream cheese.

Step 4. Decorate the Pound Cake

Spread or pipe the cranberry cream cheese frosting over the top of your pound cake.

Don't worry about making it look perfect. I actually like a few soft swirls and uneven edges. It gives the dessert that homemade feel.

Finish with an extra sprinkle of Cranberry Finishing Sugar. The crunchy topping adds a little texture and makes the cake look festive enough for the Thanksgiving table.

And that's it! Your dessert is ready to serve.

A Few Tips for the Best Results

  • Keep the cream cold: Cold heavy cream works best in a whipped cream dispenser and helps produce a stable, fluffy texture.
  • Soften the cream cheese first: This makes it much easier to mix and helps prevent lumps in your frosting.
  • Don't add too much cranberry sugar: Start with a tablespoon, taste it, and add more if you prefer a stronger cranberry flavor.
  • Decorate just before serving: Add the finishing sugar at the last minute to keep its crunchy texture.
  • Make it your own: A little orange zest or a few fresh cranberries can make the cake look even more festive.
